Welcome back to the final term of year 5! We hope that you are well and that you’ve had a good break.

We wanted to say a massive well done to all of the children that were committed to their online learning last half term and we hope that this continues.  We are approaching the end of year 5 and even though we’re not back in school at the moment, online learning is still as important as ever. As a minimum, encourage your child to complete daily reading, times table practise, english and maths learning. Please make us aware if you’re unable to access the google classroom still.  Let us know by ringing the school or emailing us and we can arrange for alternative learning opportunities for your child.

We’re kick starting this half term off with a DT week, whereby a learning grid has been posted for children to choose an offline project to complete. In English we will be reading our class book Skellig and will be doing some discussion writing based around this. In maths we will be recapping our learning of fractions and will start to move onto looking at time and reading timetables, statistics and roman numerals. In RE we are looking at values, human responsibility and how different religions use prayer and worship.

Important notice:

Before the school closed for lockdown children were reading a class text called Wolf Brother. Each child had their own numbered copy that they took home. Due to the nature of the school closure, teachers were not able to collect all copies in as some children were not at school. Please can you help your child to locate this, ready to return it when the children eventually come back to school. Lost copies will have to be replaced by parents.

Thank you for your continued commitment and support,

Year 5 team
