Our half term has kicked off with lots of learning!

Firstly, thank you for your donations for Children in Need. The children enjoyed wearing their pyjamas in school for a good cause!

We have started our R.E topic ‘Sources of Wisdom’ where we have been learning about the values in Bible stories, people that have shown wisdom in Christianity and comparing that with the Islamic faith. Children are given the opportunity to discuss ‘Sources of Wisdom’ in their own lives.

Maths
In Maths we are continuing to focus on place value and using this to help us with mental addition and subtraction through regrouping. We do this through the use of lots of different resources such as Dienes, money, tens frames and place value counters. Times tables will continue to be tested every Thursday.

English
In English we are building on our reading skills through the class text ‘There’s a Pharaoh in our bath!’ Please continue to develop the skill of inference with your child by asking them to use the clues in their home reading books to answer questions. We find building on vocabulary really helps with their understanding of books. A friendly reminder to read at home every night and ensure you and your child records this.

Spellings
Spellings will continue to be tested every Thursday. We have been teaching the children a variety of ways to practice these so please ask your child to show you. Soon we will be recapping on spellings sent home at the beginning of the year.

Can we also ensure that the children have their PE kits in school every Tuesday and a coat now that the weather is getting colder.

We are really excited for the rest of the year! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support!

Mrs Barton, Mrs Bolden and the Year 3 team.
