Welcome back to our last term as Year 5.

Last half term the children really enjoyed learning about the geography of our local area including a guided walk led by the Canals and River Trust. This half term we will be looking a bit further afield – Australia! We are looking forward to some amazing models and writing inspired by our new knowledge.

In Maths we are continuing to focus on key Year 5 objectives and it was great to see this in practice during the Inter-house maths competition last week – well done to overall winners – Farah house.

In English, the children are really enjoying our class novel, Skellig and we will be covering a number of different writing styles including persuasive letters, figurative descriptions and newspaper reports.

Following on from the children’s success in creating sound-scapes with the music program Garageband, the children are now learning to program their own games using Scratch. We might have some future game designers in our midst!

As you are aware, this half term is focused on the creative arts: music, art, dance and design and technology. We will share our ideas for the Summer Concert soon. Details to come……

Thank you for your continued support
