A spring update

Well, what a fantastic term we’ve had!

We had a brilliant science week learning about birds. Not only did we go to Rye Meads to bird watch, mini-beast hunt and splash about in puddles, we have also raised five chicks at school. The chicks are now at Aldenham Country Park (in Watford), if you want to visit them over the Easter holidays.

Year 5 were also victorious with their year 5 and 6 TT Rockstars competition. There will be a year 5 battle over the Easter holidays between Dolphins and Whales.

Over the easter holidays…

  • Please keep up the great reading with your children and continue to encourage them to play on TT rockstars.
  • Help to create an eco brick. As a school we are going to be creating a life size recycled lion for Paradise Park, but we need eco bricks in order to do this. An eco brick (https://www.ecobricks.org/what) is a plastic bottle filled with non recyclable plastic (films). It’s important that it gets packed as tight as possible in the bottle so that it can’t be squeezed. Try standing on it, it shouldn’t move. Please return these as soon as possible after the holiday.

Dates for the diary

Wednesday 24th April – children return to school

Monday 29th April – 3rd May – cycling proficiency week

Friday 17th May – occasional day (children not in school)

If you regularly read the year 5 blog, please could you complete this three-question survey so that we are able to tailor the page to parents, carers and students.
