Each Monday morning at 9.30am a new sport will be posted onto the Hertfordshire School Games website https://sportinherts.org.uk/peschoolsport/schoolgames/#content. Children can practise the sport all week and then can attempt the sport competitively at the end of the week, where they will need to record their scores. Your child must then email a copy of their scores to Miss Dunn & Mr Bruce at the following email address: coaches@wormleyprimary.co.uk . The top 4 scores for each activity for year 3/4 and the top 4 scores for year 5/6 will then be forwarded on to a central point where they will be compared against the top scores of other local schools. All of the activities are designed to be done indoors or in your garden. The first competition is a specially designed pentathlon.
Information about the different challenges will be posted on the Hertfordshire School Games twitter account: https://twitter.com/Herts_SGOs
Good luck!
A massive well done to all the children and families that took part in our virtual sports day today! A huge thank you for the time and effort you have all put in to creating your events and taking pictures and videos! It was close between 1st and 2nd place with only 20 points in it! The scores were as follows:
This years’ Sports Day will be held on Friday 22nd May. Since we are unable to have a
traditional Sports Day, we have planned a Sports Day that families can take part in
instead. This includes many different activities that children can do indoors or outside.
They will have ‘Bingo Cards’ to record the activities they complete and they will be
able to win points for their Houses by completing the end of the day online quiz.
The structure of the day:

How children can earn points for their house team:
Points will be awarded for each activity that your child completes on the bingo card and for completing a mini olympics with the people in your household. Extra points will be given for photo or video evidence of your child completing the activities. Points will only be awarded via the quiz uploaded on the classroom, so this must be completed if you would like to earn house points.
Why is the google quiz important?
At 2.00pm you will be able to complete the google quiz that is posted into your child’s classroom. It is essential that your child completes this to earn points for their house team. Each event that is completed will earn them a point. Each photo you upload also earns you extra points for your house. Completed quizzes will not be accepted after 2.40pm as staff need time to calculate scores.
What house is my child in?
A house list will have been uploaded to your child’s classroom to tell you which house they are in.
All of the information about the day will be uploaded onto the Google Classroom. We hope you enjoy the offline day of activities.
Fingers crossed as always for good weather!
We are excited to announce that this half term there will be a new cheerleading club starting. The club is open on Wednesdays to years 3,4,5,6 boys and girls, beginning at 3.15 and lasting an hour. Cheerleading is a mixture of gymnastics, acrobatics and dance and is a great opportunity to teach life long skills such as teamwork, trust, leadership and patience.
If you missed last week’s taster session but your child is interested, go to the office to ask for a letter with the relevant details.
Today, pupils from Year 5 and 6 participated in the Hoddesdon District School Sports Association Swimming Gala at The John Warner School. Ten schools from the surrounding area took part in a fiercely competitive event. The group of pupils who attended performed with grit and determination and should be extremely proud of themselves, with some finishing in the top three positions in each heat.
