Odd Socks for Anti-bullying Week

Nov
5

On Tuesday 12th November we are taking part in Odd Socks Day to help raise awareness of  Anti-bullying week. This year the theme is ‘Change starts with us!’

What is it?

Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!

There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or for parents to buy expensive costumes.  All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks , it couldn’t be simpler!  In school the children will have a series of assemblies and discussions in class to explore how a little bit of change can go a long way.

Ask the children today about why it is important not be ‘blinkered’ and the Odd socks song!

The Odd Socks Day 2019  new song ‘Change’ from Andy and the Odd Socks is available here.

Year 3 News

We have had a busy few weeks in Year 3. The children enjoyed their trip to the British Museum, they learnt how to be an archaeologist. They were amazed by all the Ancient Egyptian artefacts. They have continued to learn about how the Egyptians used lived in History and are looking forward to showing what they have learnt on Living History Day, Thursday 24th October, 9.15 – 10.15. Children can wear an Egyptian costume on the day.

In English we are learning to write a set of instructions using adverbs and conjunctions.

In Maths were are learning strategies to help us add and subtract mentally. Please practice number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 with your children as this will help them to master the new strategies. Our times table focus is 3 and 4 but continue to work on 2, 5 and 10’s.

Yesterday the children created a Christmas card that they are proud of. They will be bringing these home for you to see. If you would like to purchase any of the gifts please return the completed form with correct money by Monday 21st October.

We are looking forward to seeing you at parents consultations on Monday and Wednesday.
