YEAR 3 WELCOME BACK!

We hope you had a lovely break and are ready for an exciting half term. We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for our lovely gifts, they are much appreciated.

This term our topic is Harry Potter and Year 3 has been transformed into Hogwarts. We will be using the Harry Potter books to inspire lots of amazing learning this term and have our trip to ‘Harry Potter World’ on Thursday 8th February 2018 to look forward to. We thank you for your offer of help but have enough staff adults for this day.

In Maths we are concentrating on adding and subtracting, using mental strategies and recapping time. Please could you practise number bonds to 10, 20, 100 and telling the time with your children!

In English, we will be writing letters and creating short stories using the Harry Potter theme. Please could you make sure your child can use a dictionary as they will be using them in class. Also remember to read with your child at home and record in their reading record every time they do. They will be entered in to the reading challenge with prizes to be won! Home learning is an important part of your child’s education and it gives you a chance to see what they’ve been learning at school. Please ensure that your child hands this in every Thursday.

Year 3 has been invited to watch a dance performance at Robert Barclay School on Tuesday 6th February 2018. Children will need to be dropped there for 9.15am and then we will walk back to school after.

Please remember PE is on Tuesday. Thanks for your continued support!

Copper Coin Challenge!

The NSPCC have put on two great assemblies in school this week. They shared important messages and reminded pupils how to stay safe. They will be back next week to do some workshops in Year 6.

As a thank you for the brilliant work this charity does, our Pupil Parliament have decided to organise a fundraising initiative. From Monday until the January 31st there will be a jar in each classroom to collect copper coins.

Please send in any loose change to go in the jars to support this charity!
