District Cross Country

Jan
28
On a very cold Tuesday 25th January,  25 of our key stage 2 children represented the school in the district cross country event at Haileybury Turnford.
All the children overcame any pre-race nerves and started the 1 mile course against six other local schools. Cheered on by their teammates, the children performed brilliantly and challenged for the medals in every race. Our most successful runners were Mason Tucker (gold medal- Year 4 boys), Ryder Wallis (silver medal- Year 4 boys), Lottie Sturge (silver medal- Year 5 girls) and Harley Wells (silver medal year 6 boys). There were numerous other top 10 finishes and 25 personal bests.
Congratulations to all the team who were great representatives of the school on and off the track.

This week is Anti Bullying week. The theme is One Kind Word. To raise awareness of this important issue, we will be holding Odd Socks Day on Thursday 18th November.  Your child is invited to celebrate difference and individuality by wearing odd socks- the brighter the better!
Also on Thursday, KS2 will also have a visit from children’s author and Kidscape presenter MG Vaciago who will be selling and signing copies of her book Big Little Voice Colours the Grey. Copies of the book are £7.99 and could make a positive gift for Christmas. Books will be sold and signed in the KS2 hall after school.

Big Little Voice: Colours the Grey : M.G. Vaciago: Amazon.co.uk: Books

We are excited to announce that author of the acclaimed Big Little Voice® book series, is visiting Wormley Primary during Antibullying Week. On 18th November,  M.G. Vaciago will be sharing her highly successful book,  Big Little Voice® Colours the Grey, through a series of interactive talks with the children of Key Stage 2 .  Using her experience as a volunteer for the antibullying charity, Kidscape, M.G. will use the book’s message to empower the children to understand that there is a powerful, positive inner voice inside us all – we just need a little help to find it!

To ensure the message stays with the children, there will be an opportunity for families to purchase signed and gift wrapped  copies of Big Little Voice® Colours the Grey.  Ordering details will be sent to all parents very soon.

Big Little Voice® Colours the Grey was recently praised by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge who wrote a letter to the author earlier this year.
