A huge thank you!

Nov

A huge thank you to all of the sponsors and contributions for next Friday’s athlete visit. We have managed to raise an amazing total of £2597.70! This will not only help the athletes, but will also contribute to helping Wormley to buy new playground equipment for the children, as well as other sporting equipment for PE lessons and after school clubs.

Thank you again for your generosity and continued support.

Athlete visit

Nov

Who is the athlete?

Next Friday (29th November) we will be inviting Judo athlete Kimberly Renicks to our school. On the day Kimberly will be hosting a sports circuit, similar to one that she uses for training, for the children to take part in.

Sponsorship:

Thank you to all those who have sponsored their child. We have already raised a large amount, which will help both the athlete and the school. We have asked that each child is sponsored at least £1 (this enables them to wear sport kit on the day). If your child has already raised money from sponsorship, there is no need to pay the additional £1. There is still some time to send in the form (or £1) tomorrow, if you have forgotten today.

On the day:

All children will need trainers and a water bottle for this event. If they have paid their £1, or raised money through sponsorship, your child is invited to wear sports kit of their choice, house colours or PE Kits.

Daily Mile Update

Daily Mile Success!

As you are already aware, at Wormley, we are striving to undertake the Daily Mile at least 3 times a week during the school day. It consists of the children (and adults!) being outside and running/fast walking around a set course for 15 minutes.

The Daily Mile aims to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and well-being of our pupils – regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances.

Research has shown that it increases attainment in learning and parents have reported an increased interest in health and well-being . Teachers also report the positive impact it has on the children’s focus in lessons.

Results of the first official evaluation on the Daily Mile, which is extremely positive, can be found in the links below.

Well done to all the children for taking part in this initiative.
Keep it up 🙂
